The closing and award ceremony was held in the Belgrade Youth Centre, marking the anniversary, 70th edition of the Martovski Festival and presenting the awards to the best films and auteurs of one of the oldest European festivals. There were 101 films in the competition program in the following categories: experimental film and video art, animated film, short feature film, documentary film up to and over 50 minutes and international short film.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The selection committee members were<\/strong>: selectors of the domestic competition program -Igor M. Toholj<\/strong> (film auteur, producer and programmer), Sa\u0161a Radojevi\u0107<\/strong> (film critic, director and screenwriter) and Miroljub Stojanovi\u0107<\/strong> (film critic, publicist and editor); selectors of the international competition program - Borjana Gakovi\u0107<\/strong> (film historian, theorist and programmer from Germany), Dragan Nikoli\u0107 Dragan Nikoli\u0107<\/strong>(film director, screenwriter and editor of the film program of the Belgrade Youth Center) and Dejan Dabi\u0107<\/strong> (art director of the 70th Martovski Festival).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Members of the 70th Martovski Festival jury<\/strong>, who decided on the awards, were: Jo\u0161ko Maru\u0161i\u0107<\/strong>, film director, screenwriter, animator, cartoonist and professor (Croatia), as the President of the jury; \u017delimir Gvardiol<\/strong>, film director, screenwriter and producer (Serbia); Narcisa Darijevi\u0107 Markovi\u0107<\/strong>, film and television director, screenwriter and professor (Serbia); Ale\u0161 Pavlin<\/strong>, film and television producer and professor (Slovenia) and Pjer \u017dalica<\/strong>, film and television director, screenwriter and professor (Bosnia and Herzegovina).\n

Jury statement: The specific feature of the Mediterranean spirit and the life poetics without banality captivate oneself in the screenplay-story about the departure from this world to the next. Playing with a life situation contributes to the mentality, dialogue satire and comedy, so rare today in the cinematic view of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award will be presented later due to the inability of the winner to attend the ceremony.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

BEST ANIMATION AWARD<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Film: O novcu i sre\u0107i \/ Money and Happiness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Animation: Ana Nedeljkovi\u0107, Leon Vidmar, Nikola Majdak mla\u0111i<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jury statement: With this prize, the jury wants to point out the creative harmony of all the elements of the film, especially the lovely story, but those elements where animation is the main emotional and perceptual generator. Especially animation in the demanding technique of enlivening characters modeled in plasticine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jury statement: The suggestive and expressive camera enhances the visual structure of the image with an authentic and convincing atmosphere, a metaphorical story about reward and punishment. A camera that speaks louder than any words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award went to Dragan Vildovi\u0107, director of photography. His colleague, Luka Mili\u0107evi\u0107, accepted the award on his behalf. Nenad Dragovi\u0107, director of the Belgrade Youth Centre, presented the award.

Jury statement: When among a large number of films of an international selection, which includes films of all genres and types, the jury awards the best prize to an animated film, it means that it is truly an exceptional achievement in which an original and believable story naturally drives the dramaturgy guided by excellent, rich and original animation, stylized through a dynamic game of lines and sketches from the first to the last frame of the film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award will be presented later, due to the inability of the author to attend the ceremony.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

EXPERIMENTAL FILM\/VIDEO ART<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Film: <\/strong>Povratak ku\u0107i \/ The Return Home<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Directed by: Nikola Poli\u0107<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jury statement: A story about the hero's existential problems told in an observational and discreet manner using simple directorial tools. Watching the events on the screen, the viewer begins to ask himself where the plans we had for the future were lost and where is that possible \"return home\", i.e., to themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award went to Nikola Poli\u0107, director. Ale\u0161 Pavlin, the jury member, presented the award.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jury statement: In almost 18 minutes, the filmmakers describe the dramatic and anxious journey of the main character through the ordeals and labyrinths of life with impressive artistry in 3D animation. The environment's design is in harmony with the hero's character generated by hyperrealistic stylization from the template of the actor's creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award went to Ana Pakljanac, director. Dejan Dabi\u0107 Martovski Festival art director, presented the award.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jury statement: Beneath the dumbells and loud music simmers the chaos of a young man who has found himself in a new, unfamiliar life stage. The auteurs of this film lead us through restlessness, anxiety, desires and disagreements, with a very precise directorial process and excellent acting. We discover a fragile hero hidden under a bulging body. Precise and emotional from the first frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jury statement: The directors deal with an important and interesting topic in this film, telling us a powerful story about the heroism of (perhaps the last) heroines who do hard work underground. In the darkness of the mine, they reveal their thoughts about the most delicate problems of their heroines, feminism, equality, the division of roles...<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award went to Marija \u0110okovi\u0107 and Nata\u0161a Jankovi\u0107, directors. \u017delimir Gvardiol, the jury member, presented the award.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jury statement: It is a dark film, but then again, full of light brought to it by the warmth and greatness of its heroines. \"The wind rose in the night and carried away our plans\", but as long as there are such heroes, hope remains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jury statement: This film wouldn't have been possible without music, but it is more than a film about music. It is a metaphor for a specific space and era, but it managed to retain humanity and sensitivity. A great, mature film with authentic heroes we love, fear and enjoy their well-deserved victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jury statement: Cynical, self-ironic, and at the same time full of life and humor, a film in which the author tries to find answers to the questions about sex and love, whether they are separate or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Awards of Workshop for First-timers were also presented<\/strong>: After a sudden increase in the number of applications and interest in the third edition of the Workshop for First-timers, from the selected 9 feature and documentary film projects, jointly realized by domestic experts Andrijana Stojkovi\u0107 and Jovana Nikoli\u0107 in cooperation with Sari Volanen, editor of New Cinema slot on the Finnish public media service, two prizes were awarded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prize of 150,000 dinars gross, awarded by UFUS AFA Za\u0161tita - Organization of Film Auteurs of Serbia, for supporting the development of young auteurs, went to director Nikola Poli\u0107<\/strong>, a Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade student, for the documentary film project Razmena ili kako sam pre\u017eiveo pubertet \/ Exchange or how I survived puberty<\/strong>Addressing a young audience primarily, the director opens the topic of sexuality subtly and humorously, questioning his romantic feelings towards peers of both genders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The YLE award in the form of consultation in the development of the project, with the possibility of pre-buy, presented by Sari Volanen on behalf of the Finnish public media service for the project Grand Jette<\/strong>, went to director Andrija Kaleni\u0107 and producer Ta\u0161a Prosen<\/strong>, students of the Academy of Arts in Belgrade. Grand Jette is a documentary film project that observes the efforts of a young local ballet dancer, \u0110or\u0111e Kaleni\u0107, at a professional turning point from the prestigious Stuttgart ballet school to the even more demanding ballet school of the Bolshoi Theater in Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
